Tanya Casteel

Artist & Author

Tanya Casteel is a full-time artist based in Asheville, North Carolina. Her Cosmic Animal Ceramics, watercolor paintings, and symbolic animal writings are deeply inspired by dreams and visions from her meditation practice. Drawing from a lifelong passion for studying animals, Tanya weaves their natural behaviors into her work to reflect powerful emotional truths and intuitive wisdom.

People often feel a pull toward a certain animal; sometimes quiet and curious, sometimes sudden and strong. It’s not always clear why at first. But over time, something deeper begins to stir. Tanya creates each piece with the hope that it will meet you where you are, and gently lead you home.

Tanya studied at the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine, and earned a Master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine. She was an artist-in-residence at Artspace in Raleigh, NC, and has received several awards, including a North Carolina United Arts Council Grant, a National Artist Relief Fund, and the Maine Belvedere Fund.

Her work has been featured in Ceramics Monthly magazine, 500 Teapots: Volume 2, and the Waiting Just For You lullaby book. Tanya is also the artist behind the Wild Messengers Alchemical Tarot Deck by Lola Pickett, and the creator and author of the Cosmic Animal Emotional Intelligence Card Deck & Guidebook.
